SS11 Trends; New Minimalism

In times of social and economical strain it only seems fair but to enjoy the simple things in life doesn't it so?  And I believe I am not alone. VersaceAkris and Max Azria were also enjoying the simple things in life this Spring/Summer, sending down their runways, models clad in minimalistic dresses, blouses and skirts. The design technique of this trend that has the editors in love is laser cutting, and it's Ms. Cynthia Rowley who was a favourite of mine at New York, who beautifully redefined the bodice; with symmetrical neat circle cut outs with matching skirt hems. Whilst Donatella at Versace played with lines of the body using various vertical prints in a zigzag motion, but it was Max Azria that really embraced this look.
Not feeling the shoes though- at all.

Flowy silk maxi dresses and skirts in pale palettes with a drop to die for, only increased the femininity and nicely contrasted sharp cutout swimwear and slit-through halter-tops. With un-usual spring fabrics like leather and wool, it was Akris who really made me fall in love with this trend. His use of colour and pattern in cool chic shapes is what hit the nail on the head showing the balance of masculine and feminine style and I just loved his crazy-hoop-la Dale Chihuly inspired prints.
