It's just a little crush...

Even though there is still snow and ice outside my doorstep and temperatures are minus something, I can't help but be allowed to be lured into the high-street SS12 collections. Being whisked away into neon world, 90's cool and the ultra feminine trend which I like to call 'Little bo peep' these are just a few pieces that I'm totally crushing on. Some I've ordered and awaiting arrival and others I'm mentally buying them whilst some by hook or by crook 'I'll ave em!'
A collection of high-street based pieces from brands like Topshop, ASOS, River Island and Zara. An array of designer items on my wish-list is soon to follow assuring you of some astronomical prices but oh so fabulously chic and like totally amazing too! Louis Vuitton anyone? :-)

Colour me mad!

The best part about the colour blocking trend this season is the fantabulous rule of accessorising, this explosion of colour is already being seen in high street stores like Zara, Topshop and H&M. Sleek tailoring with casual separates give day time dressing that added punch- add these lovely satin colour block heels with a matte finish to any pair of trousers or jeans and continue this chic sensibility with a big red bag.

Minimal lightness, Maximum pleasure.

Goat skin asymmetric shoe £59

High street favourite of mine Zara, have created this outstandingly smart beautiful shoe. In tune with this season's minimalism trend, it's stylish cut-away design fused with the quality goat skin exterior has me weak at my purse strings, all that's needed is a seriously banging minty pale pedicure, Mr Gianfranco Ferre's  bubblegum pink sixties belted coat and I'm good to go.

All I want for Christmas

All I want for Christmas
It's crazy to think that December is upon us and the end of the year will soon be here! In preparation for the festivities I have decided to do my own 'Purple Tweed Advent Gift Calendar', minus the chocolate(although I might just tread through the snow and enjoy a bar or two) but with all the fashion fun, with plenty gift ideas for you and your art cultured friends, boys and girls alike!

So today being the 1st I will start with the most important gifts- the ones for ME! Yes, this is my Christmas wishlist-all affordable and very delightful so find it in your hearts to pick one from the 20 different pieces. I think the most expensive is the camera but for £160 on Amazon, you can't complain-surely I'm worth that much (and of course much much more!! :-) LOL)

I hope you enjoy my calendar and any gift ideas or dilemmas don't hesitate to contact me @ purpletweed@live.com

U.K Will never sleep again....

Those are the words emblazoned across H&M's new transactional website- which I believe is long long overdue. Hennes and Mauritz have finally allowed us lovely people of Britain to add great everyday casuals and super chic pieces at great prices to our virtual shopping baskets. This site comes in the wakening of Spanish retailers Zara doing exactly the same thing.

I understand why companies like H&M and Zara have reluctantly taken the transactional route, as they have a huge number of stores across London let alone England- the other week I was in the ma-husive Bull Ring shopping complex in Birmingham and in each wing of the building(they have 4 or 5) was a  H&M store at great sizes too- so taking into account the number of stores they have their greatest fear is if consumers stick to shopping online rather than creating enough foot-fall to keep up with the rent rates of their super stores.

Also my number 1 online shopping store asos.com have now allowed people like me to use their NUS student cards- and the choir sings 'HALLELUJAH'- although it's pointless for me to use as it doesn't work in conjunction with ASOS Premier accounts so I'll just have to get others to do my shopping work for me!!!

Spending majority of my time online blogging, researching etc and looking at these sites I've learnt a lot about web design and user interface etc- some of these sites are fantastic and amazing and soo easy to use but visually exciting with super high res quality images and text in cool fonts with great flash features and has definitely got me thinking and keeping in mind how I want my site to look when I get round to launching myself in the foreseeable future.

Now that both H&M and Zara are online and ASOS now accepts NUS all that needs to happen is that the above two need to catch up with ASOS and Nandos need to deliver and the country of England will be a happier place!!

Retail Round-up

It's September! Fashion's January, a lot has been happening in the fashion retail industry here's just a bit of retail info...

  • Spanish company Zara are ready to unveil their transactional website allowing customers to purchase items from their collections; womens, mens, kids and home for the first time.

  • American lingerie giant Victoria's Secret are getting ready to launch their company (later this year) this side of the pond- making it a lovely deal for us Brits-meaning we no longer have to pay hefty delivery charges! It'll be interesting to see if companies like La Senza will be able to ride out the competition battle. However- if it were possible to whisper into the ears of the VS HQ I'd love them to make their bras in sizes above DD otherwise girls (like me) will have to stick to Freya (not that it's a bad thing, mind).
Another American company migration Forever 21 is opening here in the UK later this year , I saw the store being constructed in Birmingham's Bullring shopping centre(not sure if this is the first one)- I think it's safe to liken them to Miss Selfridge in the US, heavily trend led, young and fresh.

  • Gucci have spent the last 18 months re-working/re-designing their new transactional website which sells their latest collections and accessories even though they've had one since 2002.

  • Henne's and Mauritz's 8th designer/mass market colabo is nearing the stages of release, with Alber Elbaz, creative director of luxury label Lanvin. Promoting it via youtube videos and selling some of the pieces online (in Sweden, I believe-its the only country with a H&M transactional site- after all it is the company's home country), it's sure to be another sold out gig with smiles and heartbreak for many. Available 23rd November.
