AW11 Trends; Fetish Behaviour

You'd be mistaken to think that being bad isn't fun. Think again because designers this season have showed us how good being bad can look-with looks inspired by the 'la douleur exquise' aka 'fetish fashion'. Everyone from Ann Demeulemeester to Zac Posen gave some kind of nod to the kinky side of fashion with sheer-through cut out panels playing a game of hide and seek, nipped in waist's with corseting built in soo good you'd think it was the 1600's, all alongside leather skirts and chiffon dresses with feminine details whilst rocking tribal like eyes and searing red hot lips.

Brocade like knitted detail at Mark Fast gave knitwear a whole new identity for the Autumn/Winter season, dip dye fringing was on the top for Giles but it was Mr. Jacobs for Monsieur Vuitton that had designed every woman's fetish fantasy!
His models didn't just appear on the catwalk like any woman of the night, No they slowly creeped their way onto the catwalk like sleek jaguars in a vintage very Parisian elevator dressed like matrons from the 1940's with night porter hats and monogrammed hand-cuffed clutches and all sporting sheer shell jackets with shirt plackets and full skirts.

If being a lady is your thing then fear not as designers made this trend incredibly wearable and practical with various pieces like the semi sheer blouse and leather pencil skirt, but Mugler and McQueen went the full hog with dramatic gothic skirts and out of this world high heels.
The best thing about this particular trend is that it has been truly left open for one's imagination to explore- be the lady or the mistress or even the dominatrix- it's really up to you, but remember it's a look not a lifestyle-don't get caught looking like the real thing!!!

  4. You know what!? Im totally into the dark/ grunge/ laizze faire aesthetic which coincidentally has overlaps with the fetish-esque style so Im pretty much digging this entry. Ann Demeulemeester 'signature' seems to be the combo of all three. Lovely synopsis ^_^
