Tom Ford SS11 Fashion Show.

The release of Tom Ford’s SS11 collection has been something that I have been looking forward to tremendously. I love the anticipation that he’s managed to build up through his own personal morals of fashion and the media. I loved the fact that his show was small and chicly intimate, the range of models (youthful beauties to beautiful ladies), only one photographer was commissioned to capture the magical moments and that he was being true to himself and his aesthetic.  Unlike other collections and other designers, Tom has really done something spectacular, he’s created a unique position for himself and his brand within the industry; this show wasn’t your average spring/summer show and the clothes were not just clothes.
Words like high-octane glamour, Studio 54 and black Russian come to mind when I see his line; truly for a woman; not your waif like girls but for the woman who understands, appreciates and values what fashion and style is and is wise enough to know the difference and its necessity, the collection is just glamorous, well thought out and excellent quality.
It’s hard for me to pick out favourites but I love the hue of the electric blue sequined dress and the tailoring of the silver suit but I think out of them all, has to be the silvery sequined leopard print like dress as worn by Beyonce in the show. The cut, colours, shapes and design of the clothes are special, and are modern classics, if I had the budget I truly would purchase Tom on a regular basis, as his clothes have the allure of Christian Dior and Cristobal Balenciaga and Pierre Balmain a la 1930’s-1945.

Not forgetting to mention the music by Karen Elson; perfect combination.
