SS12 Trends; Modern Urbanite

It's easy to think that trends during the spring summer season are surfeited with cotton dresses in obscenely bright colour's and are titled as the 'fashion must haves' by editorial types, but it's time to think again. Hailing from New York Fashion week is a trend that makes us see this time of year when it comes to fashion and style in a whole new light. With roots stemming from military comes a look that mixes military and utility together spinning the 'modern urbanite' trend into works. It's basically New York chic street; the fast pace of life requires us to have wardrobes that work for us, lives that are not dictated by fashions but are enhanced and adorned.

Bold graphite lines in checkered fabrics with pleated leather midi skirts allow office and bar to be one, whilst tuxedo style waistcoats are teamed with black jersey tank tops creating a cool vibe.
Versatility is key and colours are cool and muted in navy blue, stone, khaki and earth green. Bags, belts and sunglasses are given a futuristic minimal approach whilst remaining stylish, allowing details like pleats, peplums and pintucks to shine through.

Prince of the concrete jungle urbanite, is designer Phillip Lim; his label lives and breathes the New York heat but still giving young women something more than decent to wear at the office. His SS12 collection shown in September was awash with loose separates featured in candy floss colours also with a navy blue 'blotched' floral print providing great options for daywear, the nudes and block pieces meant that dressing up for the evening would be a breeze but most of all that this time round Monday mornings wouldn't be a hassle to get ready for.
