Spring Ahoy!

A little bit of a late post, but spring is definitely in,if the last few weeks of amazing weather is anything to go by, and if it continues like this I can only imagine that summer will just be so glorious. For me walking about and being outside in the heat has made we wish for nothing but loose fitting, slouchy crazy printed linen and cotton pieces, spending the day in tailored jackets and the like just seems altogether uncomfortable. So you can imagine that to my delight Topshop's latest designer collection collabo with Meadham Kirchhoff featured dyed asymmetrical dresses in bright hues of fuchsia alongside 70's folky paisley maxis and took it all a bit wild with leopard printed leggings and breton striped ones too!
Cheekily edited the dress from Reality Studio  :-)

I'm currently loving Topshop's boutique collection simple and chic, but catching my eye and beyond my wishlist is ASOS's pleated maxi-skirt, with a beautiful drop and plethora of pleats so perfect for keeping cool. Even though Zara's looks are pretty tailored they've got the right mix between shape and colour which I totally love. Will post my official wishlist up soon! xx

Back by popular demand.

Kurt Geiger- Corso Como £250

Kurt Geiger- the high streets equivalent to Net-a-porter.com's designer shoe emporium (although the prices are relatively the same lol), have heeded to the peoples needs by re-stocking their AW10 sellout shoe the Corso Como. With forty quid knocked off the original price and in other hues of fuchsia and metallic gold, you'd be wise to earnestly find the cash before they fly off the shelves again!

SS11 Trends; New Minimalism

In times of social and economical strain it only seems fair but to enjoy the simple things in life doesn't it so?  And I believe I am not alone. VersaceAkris and Max Azria were also enjoying the simple things in life this Spring/Summer, sending down their runways, models clad in minimalistic dresses, blouses and skirts. The design technique of this trend that has the editors in love is laser cutting, and it's Ms. Cynthia Rowley who was a favourite of mine at New York, who beautifully redefined the bodice; with symmetrical neat circle cut outs with matching skirt hems. Whilst Donatella at Versace played with lines of the body using various vertical prints in a zigzag motion, but it was Max Azria that really embraced this look.
Not feeling the shoes though- at all.

Flowy silk maxi dresses and skirts in pale palettes with a drop to die for, only increased the femininity and nicely contrasted sharp cutout swimwear and slit-through halter-tops. With un-usual spring fabrics like leather and wool, it was Akris who really made me fall in love with this trend. His use of colour and pattern in cool chic shapes is what hit the nail on the head showing the balance of masculine and feminine style and I just loved his crazy-hoop-la Dale Chihuly inspired prints.

'You Fancy Huh?'

I think if Drake ever re-wrote the track 'Fancy', I think he should ask 'you McFancy huh?' instead.
'McFancy' is a concept thought up by creative agency access-agency.net aka The Cool HunterThey've fantastically come up with this abstract idea of re-branding the very famous golden arches brand McDonald's towards a new demographic as it were-the Fashion week crowd.

Setting up pop-up restaurants during the fashion weeks across the capitals Milan, Paris, New York and London, Waiters in tuxedos providing silver service with private dining areas, and packaging co-created with the fashion brands that present at Fashion Week — Burberry burgers, Chanel fries on black packaging, Paul Smith Sundaes will be served in private dining rooms, and a fabulous bar as the focal point.’

I personally found this to be very unique and interesting and an idea that would be worth trying out, imagine drinking hot-chocolate out of say Henry Holland designed cups- with a massive letter ‘H’ on it. Its abstractness feeds off the joining of two opposite crowds- fast food and fashion doesn’t necessarily go together- more like sushi and Gareth Pugh as it were. The reaction of it all will be incredibly intriguing and if not for anything but to say ‘I had Chanel fries’!

The best way to spend Mondays.

With the wonderful glorious event that is the Royal wedding of Kate and William around the corner, I couldn't help but wonder what the British fashion lot would do to honour this truly romantic tale of a somewhat modern Cinderella story. Then this morning, non-chantly my mother placed my subscription copy of Vogue on my staircase knowing that I would swoon with joy at its arrival. Honestly I can say that it's the best forty something-quid I've ever spent, the joy knowing that every month this beautiful culmination of Britain's stylish best arrives at my door and is accompanied with tea+cake+ fresh roses (in this instance) is truly fab!

Flicking through I loved how they've managed to capture the romanticism of bridal gowns and such but creating something new by mixing them with a touch of masculinity represented in the various British institutions, from the fire-men to the east-end pearly' s. And Mrs Vodianova's face is truly ethereal but with a sort of 'english rose' effect (despite the fact that she actually is Russian).
Having spent my last weekend at a wedding and with another coming up in two weeks, I'm truly in the wedding mood.  Now this is how Monday's should be spent.

Wild Child.

One of the biggest most wearable trends this season is what I like to call 'Wild Macrame dolls', with heavy western cowboy/bohemian influences with fringing, macrame detailing, Navajo prints and ruffles.  Roberto Cavalli, Anna Sui and Bluemarine  just to name a few, where the designers who gave the best looks in this trend.  From this trend I'm splurging and lusting over anything leopard printed, with stores like Topshop and Miss Selfridge offering up the best pieces it's hard to make a decision, but so far I've purchased this bag from ASOS.com perfect for uni and these lovely flats from s shop selling surplus stock!
